Key management plays an important role in enforcing access control on the group communication. The overhead of key storage and rekeying is usually relevant to the group size, which becomes a performance bottleneck in achieving scalability, especially in dynamic and large-scale group. In this study a novel centralized group key management framework based on key hypergraphs is presented to minimize key storage and overhead of rekeying for group members and to improve scalability. It can be shown that the group key management using key hypergraphs is scalable to large groups with frequent joins and leaves.
