In this paper, the authors provide an overview of securing peer-to-peer applications in distributed collaborative environments. Current, environments which are available in the market such as Molecular Interactive Collaborative Environment (MICE) and Networked Intelligent Collaborative Environment (NetICE) focus mainly on the functionality and flexibility aspects. Data security issues have been neglected. The collaborative environments usually deal with 2 or more parties might need to have confidentiality on the work. Several studies have been carried out on implementing in collaborative environments.
