Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a standard request-response protocol dealing with requests from clients and responses from servers typically used for telephony, instant messaging and internet conferencing. In the research area of network security, secure communication in session initiation protocol is a major issue. In this paper the authors intend to discuss SIP protocol, network attacks on it, network security measures and solutions for SIP management. First they will introduce the SIP protocols in short and later they will draw focus on attacks, security measures and solutions.
