One of the features of cloud computing platforms is the ability to scale applications dynamically. Generally, this feature is used in a web services context where the web service provider adds more web servers during times of high traffic and removes web servers during time of low traffic. Real-time communications service providers can also benefit from such feature. In this paper, the authors propose and implement a highly scalable SIP proxy architecture that utilizes dynamic scalability. An evaluation of dynamic scalability of a part of the system is presented as well.
