Ground terminals for satellite communication operate with an intermediate frequency of either 70MHz or 140MHz prior to being translated to the uplink frequency, depending on the data volume to be uplinked. The close proximity of these frequencies with the assigned band for operation of the terrestrial segments including the television transmitters and the FM radio broadcast make the uplink terminal prone to interference. With extensive expansion in the arena of TV and radio broadcasting and growth in the mobile uplinks and earth stations it is essential to consider the impact of spurious contribution on this account.
