Conventional IP protocols are not suitable for real time applications which have stringent QoS requirements. For real time applications such as webcasting, audio/video-conferencing, and telemedicine it is expected that the router should be able to forward the packet according to the demand of the packet and to find a feasible path which satisfies specific requirements of a particular application. The requirements of an application are specified in terms of QoS metrics such as delay, bandwidth, jitter, and packet loss etc. In recent years, many algorithms have been developed in the internet based on IPV4 for supporting real time applications.
