The role of human resource information systems has evolved over the last twenty years such that sophisticated software is now available to organizations regardless of their size. Whilst there is a growing scholarly interest in the ways in which technology has begun to have a significant impact on the way in which HR work is undertaken, there is still a limited understanding of the human capital necessary to undertake this work. Initially this paper considers the limited literature pertaining to the human capital of the HRIS (Human Resource Information System) specialist to date.
