The Motion Picture & Television Industry Contribution To The U.S. Economy
Traditional perceptions of the American motion picture industry conjure images of studios in Southern California, and on-location shooting on the streets on New York. While the industry is rooted in both of these historic places, today the American motion picture and television industry is a national concern with workers spread from coast to coast. The motion picture and television industry is a major private-sector employer that supported 2.4 million jobs, and over $140 billion in total wages in 2008.
