In this paper, the authors present the design of a sliding mode control of a buck converter using the artificial intelligence techniques. According to the advantages of the averaging model derived from the generalized state-space averaging method, it was used as the objective function for the searching process. The results from the simulation and the experiment show that the controllers designed from the proposed method can provide the best output response compared with those designed from the conventional method.
