Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has been developed to enhance the integration of various systems to allow organizations to be more flexible in case of business changes. This paper will explain a top-down method in which Business Process Models can lead to a basic service orientation of business functions. This will be shown based on the principles of Model-Driven Architecture (MDA). Without model support, the translation of business needs into executable code to support IT developments is rather hard and mostly impossible.
