Tracking Long Duration Flows in Network Traffic

Network administrators need to monitor their network traffic timely and effectively to respond to network anomalies and security problems or help with traffic engineering decisions. Due to the sheer volume of network traffic, they increasingly rely on sophisticated data streaming algorithms to characterize their network traffic or extract a subset of flows of interest, where a flow is a sequence of packets that share the same flow identifier (e.g. source/destination IPs, source/destination ports and protocol).
