Twitter in Disaster Mode: Opportunistic Communication and Distribution of Sensor Data in Emergencies

Due to their wide distribution, Online Social Networks (OSN) like Facebook and Twitter has recently been adopted by their users as communication tools in times of disasters, both natural and manmade. Not only were they used for sharing information and providing instant updates to the rest of the world, but they were also found effective in connecting and organizing the people directly affected by the disaster. However, today's most wide spread OSNs were not explicitly designed to support disaster communications and lack some features which could improve their value in such situations.
