In multi-user environment number of users share the same radio resources. A consequence of the limited availability of radio channels in the network is that the same channel has to be assigned to many users. Thus a signal intended for a certain user will reach other users and introduce interference to their connection, and degrade the quality. Uplink power control is a key radio resource management function. It is typically used to maximize the power of the desired received signals while limiting the generated interference.
