Molecular-level understanding of complex atmospheric nucleation processes is crucial for modelers and researchers who are studying the mechanisms of atmospheric aerosol nucleation. To promote collaborative research and online education in this field, the authors developed a web-based nucleation data analysis and visualization platform. They have learned that the success of their effort largely depends on the effectiveness of user interface design and data visualization. In this paper, they study the potential of incorporating stereoscopic Virtual Reality (VR) technologies into their web-based system to achieve their goal.
