Network management is critical in the increasingly large scale distributed network systems and parallel computing architectures to ensure the security and performance optimization. In this paper, a particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed for a domain partition based hierarchical network management method to alleviate the scalability limitation of the existing network management methods. The algorithm partitions devices to be managed into a given number of domains while each of the domains is load balanced. A disturbance strategy and an improved position updating method for particle are used in the algorithm to get a good solution.
