VANDER: Efficient Cooperative Watchdog Monitoring for Lossy Wireless Network Coding
Network coding achieves the multicast network capacity throughput by allowing intermediate nodes to mix information in packets. However, due to the mixing operation, network coding is vulnerable to pollution attacks. Different from conventional cryptographic solutions, watchdog based solution has been proposed in the previous literatures that relies on trustworthy nodes to monitor and verify the behaviors of transmission nodes. However, the impact of lossy wireless communication has not been considered, where false alarm and misdetection can happen with high probabilities. In this paper, the authors propose a novel watchdog cooperative monitoring scheme, VANDER, where multiple watchdogs collaborate and efficiently detect pollution attacks in a lossy wireless environment.
