Security is one of the major concerns in Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs). The existing VANETs use the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) for their security. The paper proposes an Expedite Message Authentication Protocol (EMAP) for VANETs, which replaces the time-consuming CRL checking process by an efficient revocation checking process. This paper proposes the implementation of EMAP in cloud to enhance the computational efficiency and also to reduce the cost, communication, storage and maintenance overheads.
