Versions of 802.16

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WIMAX) which is currently employed in some parts of the world is the new era of communication. It is approved by IEEE 802.16 group and is the latest technology which is a standard for point-to-multipoint wireless networking. To deliver "Last mile" broadband connectivity to home or business locations is the vision of Wimax, also its data rates can be compared with Cable and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) rates. When they are roaming outside home or office, it has the capability which can connect to the ISP (Internet Service Provider). To avert the impending crisis of rural connectivity, the Wimax technology is becoming the way i.e., till the last mile it will be accessible.
