Virtualizing ADRENALINE Testbed for Deploying Dynamic GMPLS-Controlled WSON as a Service

The emergence of new applications requiring specific network resources is forcing service providers to have control over the optical network infrastructure in order to support rapid and automated provisioning of different networks (i.e., with different network resources requirements) over the same optical network infrastructure. Virtualization of the optical network infrastructure plays a key role in the fulfillment of this goal, allowing slicing the optical network infrastructure in pieces of infrastructure resources, accommodating multiple virtual networks. Thus, the service providers can deploy, on a per-need basis, their own virtual networks by allocating some of the virtualized pieces of infrastructure resources from the shared optical network infrastructure.
