Password authentication schemes are an important class of cryptographic protocols. They provide a mechanism that allows a user to authenticate to a server by using the users' password. Various protocols were proposed and many attacks on such schemes appeared. A survey on password authentication schemes can be found in. The authors show that a recently proposed password authentication scheme based on geometric hashing has several security weaknesses and that the use of this scheme should be avoided in practice.
