The important contribution of a vibrant and thriving Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector in the national socio-economic development of a country has been widely recognized. In view of its increasing importance, success of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has been of interest to several researchers, international organizations, and policy makers, at least, since the Bolton report and therefore has become the subject of a great deal of analysis. Attention to the SME sector has heightened because of the globalizing economy and the increasingly severe competition that is inherent in this development. In the light of this, the following research study seeks to understand and explore the external success factors as perceived by owner-managers of SMEs in the city of Tangier in Morocco.
