Effectively managing the flow of work within their organization is crucial for enterprises. One critical success factor in this context concerns the alignment of Information Systems (IS) and business processes. Several studies have indicated that existing Information Systems (IS) often fail to provide adequate business process support. To systematically identify the reasons for this drawback, the authors conducted a case study in the automotive domain and a survey among 79 IT practitioners. This paper presents the findings of this empirical research and explains why mere \"Process-orientation\" (regarding business process support) is scarce.
