Connecting enterprise networks has always been a challenge in the networking sector. The current favorite Multiprotocol Label Switching (MLPS) that functions and creates a Virtual Private Network (VPN) comes with its own set of challenges. Setting up a Wide Area Network (WAN) to connect to all the branches and/or data centers entails investment in resources and manpower on a large scale. Therefore, a proper infrastructure, consisting of routers, WAN optimizers, application delivery control (ADC), and security features needs to be planned. The current technology is definitely at its apex, but is hampered by high cost and limited flexibility.
