Recently, the trends and demands towards wireless communications such as WLAN and WiMAX have been widely increased and leads to an antenna that has a compact size, light weight, ease of fabrication and large bandwidth. A novel wideband printed monopole antenna is proposed covering frequency spectrum of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and the Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX). The total antenna size is 30x48x1.6mm3 in which it consists of a G-shaped slotted printed antenna and a defected ground plane. Theoretical and experimental characteristics are presented and compared.
