T1 went down for 3 days.No synch was occurring w/ PDC & BDC. BDC promoted itself to a PDC. When T1 was active 2 PDCs in Domain. Each server insisted that it was the Primary, the Backup icon in server manager for both acting BDCs was ghosted. From Server Manager all PC account icons in the Domain are ghosted. I tried the registry hack to demote the new PDC back to a BDC, this changed the status in Server Manager, one Primary, one Backup. Dbase synch is occuring, can create new accounts. Howeverall PC icons in S.M. are still ghosted,and BDC(backup)is still ghosted on both the PDC and BDC. Users are unable to change passwords,and random messages indicate that a domain controller does not exist when a user tries to logon? Called MS, they don’t have a clue. Has anyone removed a BDC from a domain, then reintroduced that same BDC? Are there Server SID & computer SID issues?
