2000 server browser service

Is there any way to decrease the amount of time that a master browser server takes to broadcast. I have clients using a vpn and they’ve haveing to wait about 5 minutes to recieve all the computers in the network. prior to seeing them in network places they can find them by searching for a computer individually. to them this means that it doesnt work. to me it means that the computer browser isnt recieving broadcasts at logon due to the vpn client not being activated until all windows services are loaded. any help would be much appreciated.
