2.5″ HDD enclosure problem

Old laptop, HP DV600, crashed due to motherboard problems. Recovered HD and set it up with external HDD enclosure. When I plug it into my new laptop all is well accept “my Documents,” folder doesn’t show up. Tech warned me this would happen and that he could get the folder to show but would cost cash. I’m a do it yourself kind of guy. Can anyone help?
