2K Printer Problems

Here’s the problem: One fine morning, the 2K Pro used(among other things) for net printer decided not to allow HP-1000 to work anymore. It would give the fine little sign telling me I had lost my printer. click on the sign, everything comes toa slow down, if not a halt. I think I’ve tried all the standard fixes, including replace it. Uninslall the software ( after going HP for software updates (and MS)) and reinstall making sure to follow the dorections.(SMILE). check for conflicts,rootin the registry for missing links and etc. Can anyone out there help me? I can leave the old printer on, but those wanting pretty color prints would be upset.
