3151 Terminal

I have a 3151 terminal connected to an IBM PowerServer 570, but the display never comes up. How can I make the system default to use this terminal. It is connected to the RS232 port on the back of the machine. However, I noticed what looks like aVGA port on the back, but when I connect a VGA monitor, I get no response..

Any suggestions to get a display working??
