I had a user install a 3rd party software called “Share Bear”. The install may have been botched, but at any rate by the time I arrived her, and another user wiped out the install and deleted the registry keys for this program.
While I have her operating system working, I have been unable to restore sockets. She can access the network, but can not get out on the i-net. I’ve reinstalled the MS Proxy Client, the Winsock related OS files, and uninstalled / reinstalled the communication components of Win98.
I can not reinstall IE5.5, and installing Netscape still results with no socket connections. I’m certain I’ve repaired a situation just like this a couple years ago.. but I’ve forgot what I did….
Any ideas how to fix this one?
