A problem with sony dvd writer device

Hi ,

I have bought a new system with this specification : main: Asus p5b , cpu : core 2 Duo e4500, ram : 2gb geil and … I also have a sony dvd writer dru-830a . The problem is that i can’t burn a dvd or cd by windows. i have to install nero or other software. please guide me and tell me what’s the problem.
