A Router with flexable NAT/PAT?

by jrvp88 . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

I am fairly new at this, but one thing I have noticed is that every SOHO router I have looked up has a very limited or inflexable NAT/PAT functionallity.

I’m looking for a SOHO or medium enterprise router that will give me very flexable NAT/PAT functions. Like being able to open up an unlimited ammount of Ports (that’s if I wanted to) for use by more than 40 computers behind the NAT.

The problem I come accross is that many routers only allow a limited # of special application ports to be opened…and what’s worse… is that the PAT function makes you specify which computer on the NAT is to have that function. Which router can I use that will allow me to open ports and then specify from CLIENT side which computers will access those ports?

Maybe I’m just a little too green with this, but I’m still looking for the best router for the job.

~Thanks
