Access Control Source

I’m having a problem with MS Access 2003. I am trying to add a combo or text box to a form for entering equipment problems. I have created a table of equipment numbers which works fine by itself. When I try and create a list box or combo box on the form it never lists my table as a control source to pull data from. I can see all the other tables but I need it to pull data from the one I created specifically. Is there a way to add a control source manually or what? How do I get a drop down box to work and remember what I enter or select as a value when I cant even select my table as a control source? This problem is making me crazy. Thanks for all your help.
