Access Denied on XP Scheduler (XP Pro, SP3)

by inet32 . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

I’m trying to schedule an app in the XP Scheduler but it gives me a “could not start” message, and if I try to run it manually from the Scheduler (right click | Run) it says “access denied”. If I run it outside the Scheduler it runs fine.

Because my app reads files and stuff, for a test I replaced it with a simple DOS batch file that just says “foo”, but I get exactly the same results – “access denied” in the Scheduler, OK outside the Scheduler.

I’m logged in as administrator but I don’t have a password set so I can’t give the Scheduler a password when I create the task. It gives me a warning about this that may be related to the problem. Because I have tons of other stuff installed and running fine in this PC/account I’m reluctant to create a new password for fear of breaking something else.

Suggestions? Clues? Thanks in advance.
