Access desktop harddrive from laptop

I have an immediate problem. My monitor whacked out and I can’t access my desktop (new monitor to come in three weeks, but I need access to the data, now). The desktop is a Dell Dimension running Windows XP. I have never used any kind of wireless set up so I don’t know if I have any capability that way.

I have borrowed an old laptop, a Sony Vaio PCG-F580 that is still running on Win98-SE.

Is there a way that I can acess my desktop files from this laptop?
