Access protected user files in XP PRo

One of my clients trashed the Windows directory to the point that it could not be repaired during installation. I chose to install a new copy which went fine and everything is running. I cannot access his files (my documents,favorites, etc.) under one of his old userids which was password protected. The other userids could be accessed and files were all retrieved. How can I access the files under the protected userid. I know the password..
