Accessing win2000 from win98 on network.

I have a network at my house. I’m pretty familiar with setting up networks on a win98, and also win2000 (separate networks), but when it comes to putting the two together. I cannot seem to get access from the win98 to the win2000.
I can get from the win2000 to win98 system. This is a per-to-per network. I have giving the permissions on the folders on the win2000 to everyone. I have found that WinXP, I can assess the win2000 system. The problem I know is the permissions to the win2000 system. The window that comes up only has you to enter the password; no place for user name, and every password that I try that is on the win2000 does not work. Can anyone help me with this problem?
