Active Directory Upgrade Question

by tphillips . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

Hello,

I have a simple question from a simple senario but it has me scratching my head. When I upgraded a Windows NT 4.0 domain to a Windows 2K AD domain, consisting of only two domain controllers and a client machine the only option that is available upon login is the name of the older Windows NT 4.0 domain name; domainNT.NET. Even though when I check the machines network identification it displays the correct domain membership; domain2K.NET.

Also through network neighboorhood the olderdomain name is displayed; domainNT.NET and is still accessible! From what I understand when upgrading an existing domain you can change to actual domain name aswell. Any assistance would be helpful and appereciated.

I should mention that I have setup DNS on one of the domain controllers, from what it looks like the configuration is correctly. The forward lookup zone contains the entries for all of the 3 domain memberships. The reverse look zone is empty.

Thanks for the Help!
