AD Usr & Com fail after Adm pswrd chang

After changing the domain administrator password, I was not able to run the AD User & computers anymore. I had to reset the password on the cmd line and then restart the AD U&C. Is there another location/system password than is associated with the administrator password that also needs to change for AD to continue to work properly?

Any help would be appreciated.
