Add new DNS number to clients?

Hi there, I just finished performing an in-place upgrade to my NT4 PDC. It is now running W2K Adv Svr and Active Directory. Since AD required DNS, this same machine is now running DNS Server. My question is, do I need to add the DNS ip of the server to all my clients? If I don’t, what will happen or not happen? Is there a particular order I need to specify since my clients already have two other dns entries? I’ve noticed that on my own workstation, if the new dns number isn’t first in thesearch order, I cannot use any AD tools and connect to the new domain. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
