Adobe Pro 6 Will not Launch

I have installed and re-installed adobe acrobat professional 6 on a workstation, but to no avail, it will not launch. It freezes on the splash screen and will go no further, no errors, nothing in event log. Adobe acrobat reader will open however…does anybody have any ideas?
