AMD Turion 64 X2 or Intel Core 2 DUO

I know this is very basic, but would like to know, which one is a better processor AMD Turion 64 X2 or Intel Core 2 DUO, and if one is to buy a notebook , which processor should he opt for ( m confused between HP TX1000 (AMD based and Lenovo t60). please help
