Job Classification: Application Support
Required Skills: Change Control Management, HP/UX 10.X, Systems Life Cycle,
UNIX, Windows The successful candidate provides day to day,
face to face support to application developers in the use of thetechnologies and methodologies that make up the services offered by our
department. The services supported are initially configuration management,
followed by the core development environments: Silver Stream, Jbuilder,
Visual Basic, Cognos, and in the future: automated testing tools. Candidate
will provide first level support for the above services ensuring that these
services are used effectively by the application developers and are the
primary source of gathering and providing feedbackfor the continuous
improvement of both the methodologies(process) and the technologies that
make up the services.
Daily support duties include but are not limited to: one on one training,
setting up of programming components within the configuration management
repository, and the setting up of application development environments for
testing as well as distributions of programming components to these
environments.
REQUIREMENTS: Considerable customer interaction with application developers.
Excellent inter-personal, verbal & written communication skills. Proven
abilities/experience in software development a strong plus. Technical
expertise in NT, UNIX and analytical/troubleshooting skills desirable.
Familiarity with systems life cycle, configuration management, automated
testing, client-server architectures. Visual Basic, Silver Stream, Jbuilder,
Oracle and SQL a definite plus. Demonstrated ability to work independently
and as a team member. Experience with Rational Clearcase and/or PVCS
Dimensions is required, preferably both.
