Any Type of Internships??

I am 32yrs old with business experience other than in the “IT” field. i have decided as have millions of others to change careers into the “computer” field. i am currently debating whether to study netwoirking or database administration….that’s another discussion……………………….
the question is….are there any type of formal internships available for these fields?? i know that book knowledge just doesn’t cut it in the real business world. i have realistic goals and expectations and would like any information about this subject or how to get my foot in the door once certified.
