Array Controller Configuration for Linux

I have an old server PII 450 with Compaq Smart 2SL array Controller uses RAID 5. Unfortunately the bootable partition is so small. I need fresh Linux / WinNT installation on it to make useful for backup purpose. How can I restore system and get support of Compaq Smart 2SL SCSI Controller on start.
