best way of getting certified

I have a choice in the next week (today is Jan. 5, 2001) to either try a media stream approach to certification. It is cheaper and I can share it with my husband. The other choice is to go to a tech college and take courses at 1K a class.

I tried going to a university, and 1/2 the classes were a waste because we would take a one hour test, have two hours of teaching, and leave an hour early for only 8 weeks. Everyone was complaining about not understanding what they were being tested on, and how much a waste it was.

Thanks for any polite replies to my question about experience with media stream classes to get certified or regular classes and the benefits of each.
