I am the only IT person my company has ever employed. I am an MCSE who’s been working with computers for 18 years as a hobbie, with 5 years professional experience. I left a great world-wide company to come here and make a difference…
I’m titled the “IT Director”, and I’m responsible for a couple hundred machines, about half are portables, and my responsibilities involve designing and maintaining the current network, as well as future systems upgrades, Upgrading to 100% Win2K Network, Deploying VPN, SecurID, developing the corporate intranet, etc. The clients I support are spread across 30 states, and some internationals. I also develop custom Access and Visual Basic solutions, and I specialize in NT and Database Design and process automation. I am the only person handling all responsibilities nationwide.. and I accept the fact that carrying a laptop and cell-phone on my vacations and camping trips (and everywhere else) just comes with the territory.
I’m getting paid about half what I feel I’m worth. How can I present a good case showing what I should be making for what I do, without seeming too pushy? I’m in Sacramento, Ca., and I want to stay with this company because it’s doing wonders for my resume, but I needmore money to live comfortably. Any ideas/resources would be greatly appreciated.
