This evening the power supply on my computer failed. I had turned off the computer. When I turned it on again – nothing. It so happens that I have a new power supply I bought for the “tarting up” of my old machine. So I installed this and the computer booted up fine; after a while whilst it recognised various devices; all seemed OK except no internet. I tried restarting, set “automatically detect settings” which was unchecked, no good. Drivers all appear to be there and Device Manager says that the Nvidia network bus controller is working properly. So I am now running the “old banger” which fortunately I had not dismantled and obviously I have a connection so the modem is OK.
