bios chip

I have put in a new AMI Bio chip and it will not read my memory at the post test. If I put the old one back in it reads it find. but I have to upgrade my bios because I am getting a Unexpected kernel mode trap error
0x0000007f. this is only happen since I tried to up grade to win2000.this is the second chip that they bios company sent me. what can I do
