I have been asked to write a blog for IT Toolbox. The topic is professional development for I.T. professionals.

Quick background: I am a working business & technology consultant and author. I am the author of The I.T. Career Builder’s Toolkit – which will be re-relased by Cisco Press between November 2004 & January 2005.
Currently I serve as the virtual CIO for two separate mid-sized (90 & 150 employees) and provide strategic analysis for some other organizations on an as needed basis.
Technically, I specialize in Microsoft platforms – scripting (vbscript/kixtart – both logon and server automation), document assembly applications, .asp, .NET (VB/ASP), customized MS Office productivity tools built in VBA – but have provided integration on IBM midrange systems, HP 9000s+, and others.
I’ve served as the CIO for two different organizations and eventually walked away to pursue writing and independent consulting for lifestyle reasons. (wife, 4 kids, I like seeing them and working from home).
I’ve been interviewed here on techrepublic on a few occassions.
In any case, if you enjoy the information, let me know. If not, let me know. If you have a specific question, ask?
